Caffeine - a memory dose or just a drug?

Caffeine - a memory dose or just a drug?

During research, Doctors started analysis about 160 people of around 20 to 30 years of age.

In the initial state of research doctors asked participants to recognize and classify some of the indoor and outdoor articles or objects. After this, they were given options to intake caffeine pills or placebo. The amount of caffeine was 200mg only. And again in the second phase of the research the same participants were again asked to recognize and classify the objects as indoor and outdoor items again and during this session the items were of previous round as well as some of them were new. Most of the participants who took caffeine pills over placebo were observed to have recognized the previous phase’s items and similar items but others failed or showed up with negative results to remember similarities and unchanging images.

From this experiment researchers concluded that the participants who took 200mg of caffeine were accurate at diagnosing images which were similar than those who opted for placebo (or inactive sugar pills)

At second stage of the same research it has been found that the dose of 200mg of caffeine is more effective than 100 mg of it but there was no proper improvement of memory power after 300mg dose.

Thus conclusions were drawn that 200mg is must to strengthen the memory power and no less no more will be helpful. During this research they also observed that intake of caffeine just before an hour of image identification session is not at all helpful or assumed to be trivial.

They also assumed that there are many mechanisms by which the functioning of caffeine can be justified. One of which includes that caffeine blocks a molecule called adenosine and prevents it from halting the function of norepinephrine which is considered as a hormone that has positive effects on memory; and thus improving memory cells to function in accurate and advanced way.

Apart from being memory dose caffeine also have other health benefits. One of the studies has found that caffeine is helpful in preventing liver diseases and 2 to 3 cup of coffee per day may also reduce suicide risks.

Looking at negative side of caffeine it alters sleeping regularities and also causes heart problems.
